Project Profile:
Building on the success of earlier efforts, LISC/Chicago’s innovative Centers for Working Families (CFW) has now expanded to nine sites. These centers provide employment and training services, financial counseling and credit services, tax preparation and other programs to help increase family wealth for low-income residents. The Centers have received significant support from The Annie E. Casey and The John D. and Catherine T. MacArthur foundations. Moreover, in December 2006 LISC, Casey and MacArthur hosted a conference for close to 80 national corporate and foundation representatives to learn more about CWF and how it can be replicated across the country. Several representatives expressed strong interest in supporting this work.
