The mission of the Duluth Affordable Housing Coalition is to coordinate efforts of community agencies, organizations and individuals in addressing the needs of low-income people as they relate to decent, safe, sanitary and affordable housing.

Duluth LISC works closely with the Mayor and the Planning and Community Development Divisions of the City of Duluth. The City is a partner in “At Home in Duluth,”  co-sponsored with LISC Duluth’s East Downtown, Hillside and Waterfront Charrette, and plays a major role in neighborhood revitalization and affordable housing. Duluth LISC has also worked with the Mayor on eliminating homelessness in Duluth.

The mission of Community Action Duluth is to use innovative strategies that mobilize low-income people and the broader community to build assets that prevent poverty, create equality and strengthen our social fabric.

It is the mission of the Duluth Economic Development Authority (DEDA) to promote the economic vitality and industrial development of our community utilizing the powers given the authority by the enabling legislation. DEDA was established by the Duluth City Council in 1989.

The DEDA Board of Commissioners consists of the nine City Councilors.

Greater Minnesota Housing Fund (GMHF) www.gmhf.com

GMHF advances affordable housing in Greater Minnesota by directly funding affordable housing projects; by providing technical support to local communities and businesses; by linking projects with financial resources; by securing additional resources for affordable housing; and by using research and program development activities to identify new and innovative ways of increasing affordable housing production.

The Duluth HRA strives to ensure that decent, safe, affordable housing conditions are available to all residents of the community. The Duluth HRA works to achieve excellence in the property they own and manage, and in their programs and services they provide. Through the efforts of its board, staff and clients, the Duluth HRA takes pride in being among the best and highest performing housing agencies in the nation.

Housing Minnesota is a multi-year public education, organizing and public policy advocacy campaign bringing together diverse constituencies to promote and achieve Homes for All by 2012. The primary purpose of the Housing Minnesota campaign is to dramatically increase the preservation and production of affordable housing in Minnesota by raising public awareness, educating policy makers on housing issues, and translating the needs of people affected into community action.

The Coalition, which is comprised of more than 150 agencies from throughout the state, has been fighting since 1984 to end homelessness in Minnesota.

Through its community education, legislative advocacy, and technical assistance activities, the Coalition works to prevent homelessness by helping communities to design homeless response systems that meet their needs.

Our shared goal of ending homelessness in Minnesota is more possible now than ever: we have been heard at the State Capitol and at the White House where both the Governor and the President have pledged to end long-term homelessness

MHP's mission is to promote homes for all Minnesotans and assist Minnesota communities in the creation and preservation of housing affordable to low and moderate income people.

MHP believes local organizations should be active in the creation and maintenance of affordable housing. Supporting local groups in their attempts to build the capacity to perform this partnership role is a primary goal of MHP. MHP's public policy also reflects the need to create and sustain affordable housing and to ensure equal access to this housing.
