Award Categories
HARRIS BANK CORNERSTONE AWARD
Traditionally, the cornerstone is the first-placed stone in the foundation of a building. Its position orients the rest of the building, and it is cut to last. The MANDI “Cornerstone Award” recognizes a neighborhood organization for innovation and perseverance. Cornerstone finalists each demonstrate effectiveness through innovation, creativity, tangible results, sustainability and persistence in the face of adversity.
STATE FARM INSURANCE BUILDING BLOCKS AWARD
“Building Blocks” finalists are real estate developments that promote the social and cultural life of their community, demonstrate a high degree of sensitivity to the surrounding neighborhood, have unique physical and social characteristics, and stimulate visual appeal. All have helped “build blocks” by promoting ancillary development, and can be considered model projects for other neighborhoods.
- Small Project: 24 or fewer residential units and/or less than 30,000 square feet of commercial or facilities space
- Large Project: 25 or more residential units and/or 30,000 square feet or more of commercial or facilities space.
NAVIGATOR AWARD
The “Navigator” recognizes exemplary leadership in neighborhood development by an individual who is a staff person, board member or volunteer within a public or private community development entity. The navigator is a dedicated individual who initiates changes, has overcome obstacles, has attained accomplishments in the field, and truly demonstrates visionary leadership.
TRAIL BLAZER AWARD
A Trail Blazer opens up a path for others to follow. This recognition goes to
a community development project or program that represents a new approach to
an old problem. It is designed to showcase innovation, creativity, sustainability,
and effectiveness in addressing a longstanding community concern.
