Summary: Washington, DC LISC (PDF)

LISC has been revitalizing communities and changing lives in Washington, D.C. for 27 years. Our Building Sustainable Communities work builds and preserves affordable housing, supports green development efforts, expands affordable child care options, and supports arts programs. Much of our work is focused on our targeted neighborhoods of Ivy City, Southwest, and Congress Heights where we are taking a comprehensive approach to Quality-of-Life challenges facing residents. In 2009, that included work to ensure that the homeless and those with special needs have access to the housing and services they need to regain their independence. Our recent supportive housing efforts are focused on service-enriched homes for women and families, as well as youth and teen mothers aging out of foster care. These projects, like so many others we support, contribute to the stability, diversity, and growth of the communities where they are built. They are Building Sustainable Communities.
