2009 marked LISC’s 25th year in Hartford, and we were very pleased to be honored with a “Housing Hero Award” by the Connecticut Housing Coalition. As we celebrated our housing success, we also reached out to do more to help neighborhoods sustain themselves for the long term. Along with the Hartford Neighborhood Development Support Collaborative, we embarked on a neighborhood planning process in Upper Albany, Asylum Hill, and Clay-Arsenal. These plans will help three CDCs and their community partners to carry-out comprehensive strategies for their neighborhoods, addressing housing, youth services, education, public safety, jobs, and economic development. Through these efforts, LISC will connect neighborhoods to a wide range of partners and LISC programs, including LISC’s Connecticut Children’s Investment Partnership, Green Development Center, and National Preservation programs. After a quarter century, we have built a strong foundation from which to address the challenges facing our communities and we look forward to the future.
