Who We Are

Local Initiatives Support Corporation (LISC) is a national organization with a local presence: we equip struggling communities with the capital, strategy and expertise to become places where people can thrive.

In 2012, LISC was welcomed to Peoria with a generous $3 million foundational grant from the Caterpillar Foundation. Since then, LISC Central Illinois has brought over three decades of best practices in community development to Peoria and the region. We are dedicated to transforming distressed neighborhoods into healthy and sustainable communities of choice and opportunity – good places to live, work, do business, and raise a family.

Since 1979, LISC has invested

• $29.7 billion investment (grants, loans, and equity)
• $82 billion leverage
• 489,000  affordable homes
• 81.5 million sq.ft. developed commerical space
• 230.000+ people served through income and wealth building initiative

Since 2012, LISC Central Illinois has invested

• $40 million investment (grants, loans, and equity)
• $59 million leverage
• 355+ housing units created and/or preserved
• 211,499 sq.ft. developed commerical space
• 1600+ people served through income and wealth building initiative
