Jessica "Jess" Weitzel came onboard this week as the newest Program Officer in the office, focusing primarily on lending, community development capacity building, and communications. Jess was born and raised in Springfield, Illinois and is excited to be part of the LISC Peoria team. She is passionate about - and committed to - community revitalization with a work history in both the private and public sectors. This background, coupled with her graduate study focus in urban planning, led her to pursue a position with LISC as a Lending Program Officer. She has experience in State and federal development incentives, community and transportation planning, and assisting brokers in the home mortgage industry prior to attending graduate school.
Jessica graduated from the University of Illinois with a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and French Studies in 2009, and received a Master of Science in Community & Regional Planning from the University of Texas in Austin in 2014. She volunteers her time with several organizations in the Springfield area focusing on sustainability, urban redevelopment, and small business development.
