Financial Opportunity Centers
Located in neighborhoods across Connecticut, Financial Opportunity Centers (FOCs) are career and personal financial service centers that help low-to-moderate-income people build smart money habits and focus on their personal financial bottom line through three core services: Employment and career planning assistance, Financial education and coaching, Screening for public benefit eligibility.
LISC has a network of more than 130 FOCs across the country, embedded in community-based organizations that are trusted, known for their history of providing quality services, and convenient to where people live and seek out services.
In 2020, partially in respond to the COVID-19 pandemic, LISC launched its Connecticut FOC Network across ten sites serving over 2,200 clients in its first year. Today, the Connecticut FOC Network is comprised of seven sites serving Hartford, New Britain, New Haven, Norwalk, Stamford, and Waterbury. In 2023, Open Doors transitioned to a Bridges to Career Opportunity (BCO) site. BCO's build upon the successful FOC model by helping chronically unemployed and underemployed adults train for, land, and advance jobs in local growth industries.
