WHAT: On September 19, LISC Connecticut is marking 40 years of serving Connecticut communities with an anniversary gala highlighting the organization’s commitment to equitable community development. Since 1984, LISC (Local Initiatives Support Corp.) Connecticut has invested more than $104 million in grants and loans to help local organizations develop affordable housing and expand economic opportunity. In that time, the local office has grown to encompass additional initiatives around capacity building, financial opportunity, childcare, community engagement, and economic development, with a focus in the past six years on closing racial wealth and opportunity gaps.
To mark the four decades, LISC Connecticut is honoring and presenting awards to partners, stakeholders, community members, and colleagues who have played a crucial role in the organization’s growth and work to strengthen communities throughout the years.
“From advancing long-term financial health in Connecticut to supporting the next generation of community finance innovators nationwide, LISC continues to expand economic opportunities for underserved families and communities through a thoughtful and community-centered approach to local partnerships,” says Citi Vice President and Community Relations Market Manager Larissa Longchamp. “Citi and the Citi Foundation are so pleased to collaborate with LISC and to celebrate their outstanding leadership in community development and we congratulate LISC Connecticut on 40 years of outstanding work in community.”
It is through collaboration, intentional partnership, and internal dedication that LISC Connecticut has been able to honor its commitment to create communities of opportunity statewide.
