LISC DC 2023 Highlights and Annual Report
Our 2023 Annual Report is here! Last year, we invested over $32 million in neighborhoods and communities throughout the DC region and Prince George's County, Maryland.
2023 was full of highlights of inclusive housing, in particular the realization of long-planned projects come to fruition. Last year, housing included homes for seniors able to thrive in community (Housing Up), and communities for vulnerable residents in Assisted Living (Kenilworth). We broke ground on housing for returning citizens needing a foothold in society after incarceration in Ward 1 (Jubilee Housing), and completed projects for first time home owners in Ward 7 (NDC). Residents in cooperatives forged ahead with ownership instead of displacement, and completed renovations to buildings that were overdue for makeovers (Aspen Street Cooperative). 2023 also brought its fair share of continued challenges including businesses impacted by employment shifts, climate challenges, and affordable housing financing. However, from supporting tenants in organizing to expanding our reach regionally, 2023 was a remarkable year where we honored the legacy of our past while fostering a vision for our future.
Read on to learn how LISC DC worked with organizations and community leaders to break ground on new affordable housing projects and commercial developments while supporting small businesses, celebrating tenants' attainment of homeownership, and amplifying the voices of the communities we serve.
