J&G Pallets started in the backyard of the family home 24 years ago and has remained in the community where it started.  J&G Pallets’ leadership were all raised on the eastside of Detroit and continue to live, work and raise their families in the area close to the business.

The business has grown over time into two manufacturing facilities and has recently secured financing of over $680,000 from Detroit LISC to expand with the recent purchase of a third building in the same neighborhood to increase in scope of the business.

Most of J&G Pallets’ employees live in the community and they often hire candidates that other organizations won't hire (such as ex-offenders) to provide them opportunities to strengthen their families. They are looking to hire 8-10 employees and began by hiring 4 the last week in April.

J&G Pallets also believes in giving back to its community. It has participated in Detroit's Adopt-A-Park program by cleaning and maintaining Bradley Park in the community, the Detroit Relay for Life (an American Cancer Society program) and supports programs for the homeless and needy through their church.  Every year, J&G has a community picnic and this year it is scheduled for August 2018 at Bradley Park.

When asked about their vision for J&G Pallets and the neighborhood, the owners replied that “Mack Avenue was once a premier street for small business to grow along with the surrounding area for families to live and play. J&G Pallets are going to be the foundation for the rebirth of this community. With the support from LISC and its partners, we can say ‘the rebirth has started’.”
