What We Do
Every neighborhood is a unique tapestry—a complex system of interconnected, moving parts. Duluth LISC is dedicated to transforming neighborhoods into healthy and vibrant communities of choice and opportunity—good places to live, work, do business and raise a family.
Our approach is comprehensive, effective and rooted in what neighbors want for themselves, their families and the places they call home. We do this by focusing on affordable housing development, preservation and advocacy, and building the capacity of local community development organizations. Since 2007, Duluth LISC has convened local community development organizations, governmental agencies and private developers through a neighborhood-based approach. Formerly known as Duluth At Work, the program is designed to:
- Expand investment in housing and other infrastructure
- Increase family income and wealth
- Stimulate economic development
- Improve access to quality education
- Support healthy and safe environments and lifestyles
- Strengthen leadership and civic engagement
Duluth LISC supports this comprehensive approach by providing resources and structures for convening, organizing, and implementing. Through the years, LISC has developed Quality of Life Neighborhood Revitalization Plans for Central and East Hillside, Lincoln Park, Morgan Park and West Duluth.
