In Recognition and Celebration of AAPI Heritage Month

5.14.2024

It's AAPI Heritage Month! Throughout the month, and every day, we honor the remarkable influence and contributions AAPI communities have made to this nation's history, culture, economy, and beyond. Ephraim Palmero, LISC Program Officer – Policy & Engagement, is a first generation immigrant from the Philippines and discusses what Asian American Pacific Islander Heritage Month means to him.

With this month's theme being ‘Advancing Leaders Through Innovation’, for me this involves paying tribute to the trailblazers who have shaped AAPI history in Indiana. As a board member for the Philippines Cultural Community Center, I remain inspired and optimistic of my community and other AAPI groups in Central Indiana leaving their mark and making meaningful contributions across all industries!

"I am grateful to work with a national organization that recognizes and uplifts our AAPI members. Spaces such as our AAPI Affinity Group fosters community across all offices and allows one to connect with people from similar backgrounds. LISC works best if our team reflects the communities we aim to serve and empower,” said Palmero.
