Capacity Building for Entrepreneurial Support and Business Development Organizations

Entrepreneurship focused non profits are critical to a thriving small business ecosystem in Indianapolis. However, there are limited resources and supports focused on the non profit’s internal operations, financial structures and development to ensure the organization has a strong foundation. In response to this need, LISC Indianapolis is providing capacity building support to focus on key components of non-profit development. Our capacity building framework includes the following:

Executive Coaching: The non-profit Executive Director is matched with an experienced professional coach for six months. This is an investment in the Executive Director’s development and support for effectively leading the organization.

Digital Transformation Training: This training should allow the organization staff to:

  • Identify opportunities to address specific problems within the organization and frame them in a way where a digital solution can be optimal
  • Manage the organizational transformations, in the form of people and processes, required to enable measurable and significant change
  • Navigate the legal and ethical considerations that surround digital business practices, such as privacy and data protection

Organizational Development Core Areas: LISC has proprietary capacity building curriculum that is used to evaluate non profits in these core areas: 1) Board Governance 2) Financial Management 3) Funds Development and 4) Human Resources.

After the assessment, LISC works with the Executive Director and Board on next steps for implementing changes to strengthen them and improve their sustainability.
