LISC & the Chiefs Fund Field Rehab at Lincoln Prep

Since 1998, the NFL Foundation/LISC Grassroots Field Grant Program has provided nearly $61 million to support the creation or refurbishment of 365 playing fields nationwide. This year marks the 20th anniversary of the NFL Foundation/LISC partnership, while the NFL is also celebrating its 100th season. This week, LISC joined the Kansas City Chiefs at Lincoln College Preparatory Academy and together we presented Kansas City Missouri Public Schools a check for $250,000 to refurbish the high school’s football field.

“The relationship that has been established between our organization, LISC and the NFL Foundation has helped the Chiefs to create nearly $3 million in grants to refresh 15 youth fields right here in Kansas City. The financial commitment and additional support provided by LISC continues to help us impact the lives of young athletes who may never go pro, but receive the benefits of being involved in recreational and organized sports alike with the best resources.”
— Chiefs’ President, Mark Donovan

To celebrate its 100-year anniversary, the NFL launched “Huddle for 100”, an organization-wide initiative to empower 1 million people nationwide to each give 100 minutes of their time creating 100 million minutes of volunteerism. The Chiefs chose their “Huddle” to focus on Lincoln College Prep and the surrounding neighborhood because it’s where the team’s initial Midwestern home, Municipal Stadium, once stood. In addition to announcing the NFL Foundation/LISC Grassroots Field Grant, the Chiefs also took the opportunity during the “Huddle” to formally announce their planned placement of a stadium marker of Municipal Stadium this fall.
