Welcome to this month’s Community Wise podcast. As we all know, housing has been top of mind for many people in the metropolitan area and around the country. Today we will be focusing on a newish local initiative called the Regional Housing Partnership. Over the last few years LISC Kansas City and the Mid American Regional Council (MARC) have joined together, with the help of local foundations, to form the Regional Housing Partnership that is working to create a common understanding and potential solutions to the housing needs of our communities in the region. Leading the work internally is Katie Killen, Housing Program Manager at MARC and Andrea Generaux, Program Officer at LISC KC. As part of the partnership a strategy committee has been formed to help guide the work and identify regional wide goals. The committee is made up of representatives from across the region working on housing initiatives. Co-chairing the committee is Kansas City, Missouri Mayor Pro-Tem Ryana Parks-Shaw and Johnson County Commissioner Janeé Hanzlick.
The Community Wise Podcast is a conversation between LISC Greater Kansas City Development Officer Holly Long & practitioners & thought leaders from the Kansas City Metro region in the fields of community development, social enterprise & social justice.
