Thrive: Spotlight Mark Woods & Lolita Willis

As the world navigates COVID-19, LISC Greater Kansas City believes it is important to honor those difference makers in our community - essential organizations and individuals that have stepped up to continue providing critical goods and services to the public. Many have gone above and beyond by continuing to work and volunteer in the midst of these challenging times. They have become unsung heroes in their communities. In the metro, two of those heroes, Mark Woods and Lolita Willis, are representative of frontline workers. Mr. Woods, who has been a KCATA bus driver for over 20 years and loves to bowl, is motivated by the people of Kansas City.

Personally, as long as I’m healthy, I feel the obligation to go to work and get people to where they need to be.
— Mark Woods

“Personally”, he says “as long as I’m healthy, I feel the obligation to go to work and get people to where they need to be.” Ms. Willis has been with the USPS as a Mail Processor for over 30 years and enjoys gardening and landscaping. She, too, is motivated by her community. “I love people”, she says. She also volunteers at Heart of God Evangelistic Ministries Food Pantry, providing much needed relief to families in need.
