Scarritt Renaissance
Scarritt Renaissance enjoys a large base of active residents and friends of the neighborhood who act as an army of volunteers by investing their time, money and passion in the neighborhood’s initiatives. The Executive Board is comprised of residents experienced in working with City officials, non-profits, developers, churches and neighborhood residents.
Since 2006, Greater Kansas City LISC has partnered with Scarritt Renaissance by providing technical assistance and investing $1.2 million to support development, programming and to build the capacity of the neighborhood. In 2016, SRNA will complete a show piece embankment slide in Concourse Park to complement its existing children’s playground. SRNA also undertakes recurring projects that build neighborhood capacity through engagement and beautification. These include semiannual neighborhood cleanups and events like the annual Scare-it Halloween and Easter egg hunt. Active block watch meetings allow for more targeted neighborhood engagement.
Mattie Rhodes Center, LISC’s NeighborhoodsNOW lead agency for the Scarritt Renaissance neighborhood, enriches the lives of individuals, families and communities in a respectful, multicultural environment. With more than 100 years of serving Kansas City residents, MRC partners with LISC to improve the quality of life for residents of Scarritt Renaissance by working collectively with agencies, organizations, schools, churches, businesses, governmental organizations and engaged citizens.
