LISC LA Executive Director Tunua Thrash-Ntuk Joins Prominent Voices on LA Housing in Emerging Leadership Program

Here in the city of Los Angeles we are deep into a crisis, a housing crisis. With more than 60,000 Angelenos already experiencing homelessness, another 365,000 already stand on the brink of eviction after the pandemic-driven moratorium ends at the end of this year. LISC LA, along with our public and private partners, are at the helm of addressing critical housing needs in Los Angeles as the clock ticks on. Today, we are engaged in not only funding numerous affordable housing projects, but in building a housing pipeline through our support of professionals and knowledge-bases in our local communities. We believe that beyond actionable affordable housing projects, active community engagement and deepening our collective understanding of best-practices is vital to creating a future of sustainable housing.

In our local Los Angeles area, LISC LA Executive Director Tunua Thrash-Ntuk is a leading voice on housing development with over two-decades of housing development experience. In the past, she has engaged at all levels of discourse with advocates, leaders, and clients through podcasts, webinars, blog posts, and outside engagement, but this month she is taking on a new role in the ongoing discourse. Starting this September, Executive Director Thrash-Ntuk is joining a select group of housing leaders as a part of the Housing Policy Leadership Academy (HPLA) to advance thinking on the topic of affordable housing in Los Angeles.

“Through this program, we are working to expand and develop an on-going network of informed, passionate housing policy advocates committed to creating healthy housing markets for all.”

The Housing Policy Leadership Academy is being launched for the first time this year as a joint effort of LeSar Development Consultants and the Global Policy Leadership Academy, two institutions founded by housing and community development leader, Jennifer LeSar. Previously LeSar has brought together consultants and experienced professionals to engage on topics of local development and global policy, but with the Housing Policy Leadership Academy, these institutions will come together to tackle the pressing issue of housing in our city of Los Angeles.

Starting this past September, Executive Director Tunua Thrash-Ntuk joined a select group of housing leaders as a part of the Housing Policy Leadership Academy (HPLA) to advance thinking on the topic of affordable housing in Los Angeles. Participants will engage in lectures, panels, and small group discussions to build their knowledge base and become stronger advocates for housing policy. According to HPLA, over eight weeks participants will be able to:

As one of forty participants, Executive Director Tunua Thrash-Ntuk will bring the new understanding she gains from these conversations back to LISC LA as we engage in housing development, production, preservation and protection efforts. All while contributing to the group of participants her know-how from over two decades of experience in the field. As we reach an inflection point in our local housing crisis, engagement like this is all the more important to advance discourse and develop new talent and successful practices. With the work of institutions like LISC LA and HPLA, and leading voices like Tunua Thrash-Ntuk and Jennifer LeSar, a future of sustainable housing in Los Angeles becomes possible.
