Moment #11: Investing in Cesar Chavez Foundation

In April 2017, LA LISC closed on a $2.3 million predevelopment loan to Cesar Chavez Foundation in support of their LA New Directions West Adams project. This is an exciting new project that will add 64 units of affordable housing reserved for homeless and senior veterans. In addition to adding much needed affordable housing stock to the Los Angeles market, the property will also provide a community garden, community rooms, office space including a kitchen, computer room, meeting space, fitness facility and laundry facilities. The community rooms will house social services such as literacy programs, computer training, money management and nutrition and wellness programs. Veteran and Homeless on-site services will include individual counseling and case management, job training, VA benefits assistance, veteran-specific legal assistance in addition to a partnership with the VA for medical, mental and dental healthcare.
