Senior Leadership Spotlight: Miranda Rodriguez

Get to know the staff members that drive our work forward

Meet Miranda Rodriguez, Deputy Director

Number of years at LISC LA: 5.5

What do you do at LISC LA:

As Deputy Director, I help to lead and manage the fabulous LISC LA team, which has deployed $200M in community development investments since 2018. In this role, I drive strategy and resource development for LISC LA’s growing program portfolio, which creates opportunities for people of color to participate in the economic growth of the region and build wealth within their communities. I create strategic partnerships with community based organizations, government, and philanthropy to strengthen small-businesses, foster inclusive economic development strategies, and advance community ownership models across Los Angeles.

What LISC LA accomplishment are you most proud of?

How to choose? We just attended the Ascend conference in Harlem, so that program is on my mind. Through the Ascend program, we support diverse entrepreneurs with the resources and market access they need to win government contracts and grow their businesses. With the support of LMU Center for Entrepreneurship and CMG Alliance, over the past 2 years, Ascend LA businesses have won (drumroll please)…$19M+ in contracts with local and state governments! We are currently training our 4th cohort and have supported 100+ businesses to date.

Favorite thing to do in Los Angeles?

Again, how to choose? My ideal LA day includes a bike ride, beach time, and tacos.

Book you’re reading or podcast you’re following or series you’re watching?

I love “Broken Bread” on KCET- the new season is out and so good! KCRW’s “There Goes the Neighborhood” and “Below the Ten” are interesting to listen to as someone who works on these issues every day.

Favorite quote (include author)?

“Nothing to do but follow your crazy”― N.K. Jemisin

What are you most looking forward to at LISC?

I am looking forward to closing on our first ABC Fund investment that will support asset building and generational wealth opportunities for diverse business owners.
