California Housing Development Training Institute (HDTI)

Since 1988, the California Local Initiatives Support Corporation (LISC) offices have facilitated HDTI and over 500 people representing 100 community development organizations throughout California are graduates. LISC launched HDTI in response to an unmet educational need for a comprehensive program to develop the project management skills of community development corporations' staff.

HDTI Program Goals

HDTI Success Stories

“The HDTI program provided an incredible overview of the whole affordable housing process from pre-dev all the way through resyndication. Thanks to the incredibly knowledgeable and patient instructors, I feel well prepared with the tools I need to be successful managing the whole process.”

- Nicole Willick, Project Manager, DECRO Corporation

“HDTI is so necessary! I couldn't have asked for better trainers or a better cohort. We completed this program feeling more inspired than when we entered it, created lasting relationships, built a bigger network, and became 10x more knowledgeable to advance our careers.”

- Cynthia Wong, Project Manager, PATH Ventures

“HDTI has allowed me to understand the entire development and financial process to make decisions more efficiently and quickly. Housing security is foundational for success, and kids should be able to focus on school and building relationships - not if they will be able to live in the same place each year.”

– Ryan Ortiz, Project Manager, Cabrillo Economic Development Corporation
