AmeriCorps: Making a Difference in Their Communities

LISC AmeriCorps members are innovators and are making a difference in their communities.

This summer, Apheilia Wolfe, LISC AmeriCorps member serving at Urban Edge Corporation in Roxbury, Massachusetts, won the LISC AmeriCorps Equity & Innovation Grant to help youth in her neighborhood through meaningful connection and opportunities. She plans to use the funds to help youth to become confident leaders by giving them a voice through having dialogue around social issues and social injustices, future aspirations and the power of networking through local resources. 

“Enhancing Youth Health and Wellness" will also create ways to understand the fundamentals of personal finance and credit management to make informed decisions achieving long-term financial stability to reach their goals. They will use journals to write down their future aspirations. The vision for the Equity & Innovation Grants support members in executing their creative ideas to improve the communities they serve.
