Bridges to College and Career Training Celebrates 52 Graduates
JVS Boston, a LISC Financial Opportunity Center (FOC) partner, recently celebrated the graduation of 52 participants from their Bridges to College and Careers program across education and training pathways in Business Technology, Biotechnology, General Studies, and English for Academic Success. The cohort of students represented 26 countries and all completed the program, securing for JVS a 100% retention rate for the full July - December program term. It is a testament to the dedication of the students and their teachers' skill and support. Nearly all of the students (92%) have enrolled to start their classes at Bunker Hill Community College and Quincy College.

The Bridges Model
A recent study highlighted the success of underemployed and unemployed individuals who participate in LISC’s multifaceted Bridges to Career Opportunities program (Bridges) with our community partners. Bridges combines adult education classes contextualized for specific industries with one-on-one coaching to comprehensively address what adult learners need to successfully (1) enroll in laddered vocational training; (2) devote time and focus to their studies; (3) find meaningful employment at a living wage; and (4) solidify personal and household finances to build assets, secure credit, and fully profit from future opportunities to build wealth.
