LISC Massachusetts is grateful for the wonderful, tenacious, and visionary leaders that support our work through their role in our Local Advisory Committee (LAC). Through LAC Spotlights, we're featuring their leadership!

Below is a conversation with Lisa Joyner, Regional Community Development Manager at TD Bank and Chair of the LAC.

LISC: Please tell us about your role at TD Bank.

Lisa: I am a Regional Community Development Manager developing, coordinating and managing community development activities for TD Bank.  I collaborate with nonprofits, government agencies and community groups serving low-to-moderate income communities with a key focus on affordable housing, economic development, small business, financial education and grants. I work on strategies, solutions and action plans to monitor CRA performance and to make an impact in underserved communities.

I have known about LISC since I first entered the community development field in the 90's...I wanted to be a part of the great work that they do so I was happy when asked to join the LAC as I knew I could help in providing my insights to help guide their strategies towards creating equitable and resilient communities.

LISC: How did you learn about LISC Massachusetts? And what motivated you to join the LAC?

Lisa: I have known about LISC since I first entered the community development field in the 90s.  I have been impressed with the organization’s national and local efforts in bringing much needed capital and investment to historically neglected communities.  I like their comprehensive and committed approach.  I wanted to be a part of the great work that you do so I was happy when asked to join the LAC as I knew I could help in providing my insights to help guide strategies towards creating equitable and resilient communities.

LISC: Which program or project that LISC Massachusetts is leading excites you the most and why?

Lisa: All the programs are strong, so it is hard to choose one.  One area that does excite me though is the climate-related programs.  I didn't know much about this area when I started on the LAC about seven years ago.  The program has developed throughout the years as LISC Massachusetts has really stepped up and become a model for the rest of the country in this area.  I like that this program area crosses over to housing, small business, and jobs.
