LISC NYC hosts workshop on the future of HUD 202 senior housing

In June, LISC NYC and LiveOn NY, a senior advocacy organization, hosted a workshop for owners and managers of HUD 202 PRAC senior housing on impending changes to the Rental Assistance Demonstration (RAD) program. Under new federal legislation, HUD 202s will, for the first time, be permitted to take on new sources of capital to provide desperately needed repairs to their buildings. 

Officials from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) and the New York City Department of Housing Preservation and Development (HPD) discussed how owners will have the opportunity to preserve their existing HUD 202 buildings and potentially develop new senior housing. Scott Short, executive director of RiseBoro Community Partnership, a HUD 202 property owner, discussed how his organization is preparing for the upcoming changes. Attendees also shared information about their building conditions and technical assistance needs.
