Economic Inclusion Agenda
The 2022 Economic Inclusion Agenda, funded by Ralph C. Wilson Jr. Foundation, provides a regional overview to examine how economic regional priorities support small and medium sized businesses owned by Black, Indigenous, and People of Color (BIPOC).
This report is a sister report to the WITHIN WNY Neighborhood Planning process, where program staff work with neighborhood organizations to demystify neighborhood planning. Most recently, LISC worked with partners on Buffalo’s East Side to convene organizations across sectors to identify shared goals and vision. This results in a roadmap with concrete projects and a set of commitments that help spearhead community-driven projects and positive investment.
The economic inclusion analysis goes one step deeper in the economic development landscape. It provides an overview about the state of the regional economy with a racial equity lens, assessing how BIPOC-owned businesses and commercial districts in communities of color benefit from the region’s economic growth.
