COVID-19 has led to massive layoffs, leaving many tenants who were already precariously housed with no way of making rent. Recently enacted federal legislation provides temporary tenant safeguards, but not every household is eligible and questions remain about the law’s effective implementation. These issues make it more critical than ever to provide tenants with the tools they need to understand and exercise their rights, keep their landlords accountable, and prevent displacement and homelessness.
In this webinar, we’ll hear from JustFix.nyc, a NYC based non-profit that builds technology for tenants, organizers, and advocates fighting displacement. JustFix will give an overview of their tools, and we’ll hear from two community-based organizations about how they put the tools in action with their staff and members. We’ll also learn how JustFix has adjusted the tools to keep tenants safe during the public health crisis.
