Community Safety
LISC’s approach to community safety brings together residents, community leaders and law enforcement to work together. By working side-by-side, the partners build trust and strengthen their relationships, improve communication, share expertise and leverage resources around a common safety agenda. Together they tackle crime hotspots, promote safety campaigns and restore blighted properties into safe places to live, shop and play. The result is a lasting community-police partnership that makes our neighborhoods safer and healthier.
Our proven strategies include:
- SafeGrowth® is a proven method of organizing and training teams of diverse stakeholders, including leaders in community development, design, planning, law enforcement, and government, to positively impact real-life crime and safety issues.
- CPTED is an anti-crime approach that encourages targeted and strategic changes in the physical environment to help reduce crime, such as improving lighting and site lines and addressing vacancy and abandonment.
