Haji Baba Middle Eastern food restaurant and grocery store has been in Tempe, Arizona for almost 35 years. They have served as a main staple in the community serving Middle Eastern food and selling Middle Eastern European and Persian supplies, from spices to different drinks and sweets.
People who have lived in the neighborhood for 50 years as well college students, and people who consider Haji Baba a gathering place and destination grocer.
RAIL CDC made sure this local favorite knew about opportunities and was able to apply and access grants and loans during the pandemic. Because of the support, Haji Baba was able to buy supplies and pay their long-time employees. The owner commented, “Their support helped us survive.”
