Arizona Child Care Infrastructure Grant

In less than a year, 478 child care businesses spent nearly $60 million in federal funding to improve 511 facilities for children, staff, and families through the Arizona Child Care Infrastructure Grant program.

LISC Phoenix administered the Arizona Child Care Infrastructure Grant program through a partnership with the Arizona Department of Economic Security (ADES) Division of Child Care (DCC) and First Things First (FTF). This project was made possible from the time-limited Child Care Stabilization Grants appropriated in the American Rescue Plan (ARP) Act. A total of $65 million supported grantmaking and technical assistance activities to address the urgent need across Arizona for families and communities to access child care.

Impact

The Arizona Child Care Infrastructure Grant helped child care providers improve the quality of their care, increase their capacity, and improve the safety of their facilities. They extended learning outdoors with new playgrounds, made repairs and addressed safety concerns to make classrooms warm and inviting, and redesigned spaces to better meet children's developmental needs and serve more children.
