Financial Stability
We know that healthy, sustainable communities are made up of people who have living wage jobs and feel confident about their economic futures. To get there, residents need the skills to advance along the path of employment and manage their money well. That’s why LISC invests in helping people tackle all the facets of financial life—earning a steady pay check, budgeting, building good credit and saving for education and retirement.
LISC’s financial stability programs connect low- to moderate- income families with the financial and labor market mainstream. We offer employment and career services, financial coaching and education and low-cost financial products that build credit, savings and assets.
Our Financial Opportunity Center® (FOC) Network partner sites in the metro-Phoenix area are part of the network of more than 130 sites across the county. FOC® Network sites provide employment and career counseling, one-on-one financial coaching and education and low-cost financial products that help build credit, savings and assets. They also connect clients with income supports such as food stamps, utilities assistance and affordable health insurance. The cornerstone of the FOC® Network model is providing these services in an integrated way—rather than as stand-alone services—and with a long-term commitment to helping clients reach their goals.
LISC supports job growth in underserved communities by helping equip local businesses with the resources they need to grow. We provide direct financing while also building out larger networks of coordinated assistance for small enterprises overlooked by conventional financing channels. With partners, we're adding customized techinical assistance programs for child care providers and entrepreneurs who have been impacted by the justice system.
LISC harnesses the power of creative businesses and distinct local cultural assets that can spark district vitality through its creative placemaking programming. Through technical assistance, financing, and research, LISC leverages the unique ability of arts and culture to empower people to build prosperous, resilient and socially connected communities.
Working to reposition disinvested commercial corridors, LISC pools funding and technical support from a diverse set of investors and funders and then deploys these resources to stimulate economic revitalization and community vitality. We use market analysis to help communities identify unmet opportunities in transit corridors that have been or will be disrupted by light rail construction. LISC then works with place-based partners to tap into opportunities to revive outdated storefronts and infrastructure and bring education and resources to small businesses. This creates opportunities for business attraction and retention in areas that serve economically isolated communities.
