Our Work
The Puget Sound is among the most dynamic regions in the country, with unmatched natural beauty and abundant economic opportunities. However, our economy has not worked for everyone. Barriers to prosperity, especially for communities of color, prevent our region from reaching its full potential.
To achieve broadly shared prosperity and inclusive and equitable economic opportunity, we must make deeper investments and build stronger connection between community stakeholders, public and private investors and policymakers. This is where LISC Puget Sound comes in.
LISC can take on risk and test new models to accelerate economic advancement. We can convene key partners who might not otherwise come together, and assemble capital from local and national sources to directly respond to the needs of people and communities often overlooked for investment.
Investing in Puget Sound
LISC is a national organization with a local focus, rooted in the belief that neighborhood leaders and organizations best understand the assets and needs of their communities. In order to create a more equitable, inclusive, and sustainable Puget Sound, LISC provides financial and human capital to build the capacity of our partners and improve neighborhoods. We use our resources to invest in affordable housing and neighborhood assets to improve social, economic, and physical health. We amplify the voices of historically disenfranchised communities and advocate with them for policy solutions and resources.
LISC Puget Sound works with nonprofit, community-based organizations to develop affordable housing, commercial enterprises and community facilities. Over the last 30 years, LISC has made more than $1 billion in social investments throughout Washington, including COVID-19 relief for more than 100 small business owners and community-based organizations.
