Digital Connectors

Digital Connectors are community members conducting digital skills training and affordable, reliable device and internet access across our network of more than 45 partners in 20 states and two First Nations. Their work is two-fold: digital literacy and equipment. Digital Connectors address digital literacy by assessing client access to technology and baseline digital skills. After this assessment, they source equipment for their clients, advising clients on free or affordable home internet service options and sources of internet-connected devices.

Rural LISC is building a targeted approach to closing the digital divide by adding technology services to our preexisting workforce development partners and social service providers.

Many of our partners are experts in face-to-face relationship building. Through Digital Connector program resources, many were able to expand their delivery of services to include remote service support, as well as in-person. Ultimately, providers helped clients more fully participate in their communities, the economy, and society in the short and long-term.

Training and Support

Digital Connector organizations are established connectors within their communities. The Digital Connectors training program gives these organizations the skills to connect community members with digital skills training. This train the trainer model ensures that community organizations have the knowledge and resources they need to equip their local communities. The training includes basics of broadband, computer technology, and a digital literacy proctor program for teaching others (train the trainer program). Additionally, Digital Connectors have access to continuing education opportunities and informational resources provided by Rural LISC and our partners.

Devices and Equipment

Through the digital inclusion initiative, we are increasing the digital devices available to households, businesses, and community organizations in historically disinvested rural communities. The initiative supports remote learning, working, and the necessities of everyday life.
