Our Impact


LISC opened its doors in San Antonio in 2016, making it one of the organization’s newer offices. Since then, LISC San Antonio has been busy establishing itself in the community and forming productive partnerships with local community development organizations and nonprofits.

    LISC San Antonio endeavors to break the cycle of poverty by investing in affordable housing, economic development and community infrastructure. We have developed a robust pipeline of real estate projects and have worked both with nonprofits and local government to provide technical assistance and capacity building.

    In the years to come, we look forward to continued collaboration with our partners to further LISC’s goal of closing the opportunity gap in America.

    Highlights

    • With City and nonprofit partners, created & implemented first-ever sustainable homeownership class for families receiving rehabilitation assistance through the City of San Antonio; training was provided to more than 80 individuals in 2023.
    • Convened and provided ongoing support to the BDO Alliance, a group of non-profit Business Development Organizations who provide support and capacity building to local small businesses and entrepreneurs, and received $3.6 million award of ARPA funding through the City of San Antonio to support Alliance work.
    • Convened and provided ongoing support to the Financial and Housing Counseling Collaborative, a group of front-line counselors who support San Antonio and Bexar County residents in achieving their financial goals.
    • Carried out a series of trainings around effective non-profit board functions, activities, and relationships, which is being refined into an annual program. 
    • Supported convening of the San Antonio Small Business Ecosystem to explore the needs and opportunities faced by small businesses, entrepreneurs, and the organizations that support them.
    • Produced an Accessory Dwelling Unit guide and implemented an ADU rehab pilot program to improve public awareness and understanding of the benefits and opportunities around ADUs.
    • Provided a series of community-based education and training opportunities on topics ranging from housing counseling, homelessness trends and services, and heirs property to affordable housing finance and relevant legislative issues.
    • Delivered hundreds of thousands of dollars in HUD Section 4 and other capacity building grants and programming for local non-profits.
    • Provided nearly $15 million in lending and equity to Alamo Community Group's Museum Reach Lofts, a 9% Low Income Housing Tax Credit project.
    • Invested almost $7 million in New Markets Tax Credit equity in the Mays Family Boys and Girls Club.
