Affordable Housing

A safe, affordable home is one of the basic requisites of life—a key to individual health and wellbeing, and the foundation for sustainable, economically vibrant and diverse neighborhoods.

Affordable housing has benefits that extend beyond the walls of a home to the community at large. It boosts spending and employment in the surrounding economy, brings revenue into local governments and reduces the likelihood of foreclosure.

Since our inception, affordable housing preservation and development has been at the core of our work. LISC San Diego has leveraged $1.2 billion and deployed $855 million in grants and loans to support development of thousands of affordable housing units.

Across the greater San Diego region, LISC San Diego has helped create

As the cornerstone of LISC San Diego’s work, we provide our partners with flexible financing that protects, preserves, and produces affordable rental and homeownership opportunities for individuals and families living below median wage and seeking to thrive in a growing city. As a mission-driven lender, we go the extra mile for partners who share our deeply held vision for an inclusive city.

To make this happen, we provide grants, loans, and equity for nearly every aspect of development, from planning and acquisition, to construction and renovation.  We also offer technical assistance, professional development for affordable housing professionals, and we advocate for good housing policy at all levels of government.
