What We Do

For more than 30 years, LISC Virginia's work with community organizations to revitalize under-served Richmond-area neighborhoods has led to physical improvements, safer streets, increased property values and highly engaged residents. We support community development organizations with grants, loans and expertise to help them construct businesses, community centers and affordable homes in low and moderate income neighborhoods.

Our Strategies

As a regional leader, LISC Virginia fosters successful neighborhood transformations and influences public policy that supports community development. Key to this work is strategic, financial community development investments; support for sustainable local businesses that anchor the neighborhoods; and our proven, assessment-based investments in neighborhoods. LISC Virginia mobilizes corporate, government and philanthropic support to provide local community development organizations with:

In collaboration with local community development groups, LISC Virginia staff helps identify priorities and challenges, delivering the most appropriate support to meet local needs. LISC Virginia is creating neighborhoods of choice and opportunity by:
