Community Investments
LISC Virginia is a financial intermediary that provides grants, loans, and equity investments to help community developers and partners revitalize neighborhoods. LISC loans do not replace traditional financial facilities, such as those offered by private banks. Instead, they may cover the higher risk portion of a development – the predevelopment phase of a project in a low-income community – that most lenders are unable to finance due to their underwriting thresholds.
We make grants to help community development organizations build their capacity, and to support affordable housing owners in implementing clean energy and healthy housing strategies.
We offer financing during all stages of projects, including pre-development, property acquisition, bridge, construction, and permanent.
Through the National Equity Fund and the New Markets Support Company, we provide equity investments for projects that support community revitalization.
