Housing Programs
LISC NY supports affordable housing by offering direct financing, technical assistance, and programs that build an ecosystem of support to the field.
Housing is one of the cornerstones of LISC NY’s mission. We work with mission-driven organizations (MDOs) and faith-based organizations (FBOs), community development corporations, supportive housing organizations, and other mission-driven affordable housing developers to provide financing and technical assistance on projects that are typically not of interest to conventional financial institutions because of their smaller scale or technical complexity.
We also offer training programs that foster diversity, equity and inclusion in the real estate sector. Our aim is to provide opportunities for people of color to access jobs and build businesses while expanding the supply of high quality, affordable housing. In 2021, LISC NY built out a suite of programs to help equip BIPOC-owned real estate firms with capital, strategy, and technical know-how to support the growth of the affordable housing industry e.g., Marketing Agent Training Program and the Developers of Color Training Program.
“We thank [LISC NY] for assisting us and the timeliness of the information we received in order to prepare for this major milestone for our church. We would not have been able to do this on our own!” said Father Pierre-Andrew Duvert of St. Luke’s Episcopal Church - one of the participants in LISC NY's 2018 New York Land Opportunity Program.
LISC NY’s New York Land Opportunity Program (NYLOP) allows us to expand our impact into new communities and spaces. To date, six HUD 202 senior housing owners have received technical assistance in exploring HUD’s Rental Assistance Demonstration (RAD) program as a means of leveraging new capital for critical repairs, and three NYLOP churches have formed partnerships with developers—all to develop 100 percent affordable housing and community spaces.
LISC NY held an information session on the New York Land Opportunity Program and how to apply on April 14th. View the information session recording here.
