Introduction by Maurice Jones, President & CEO, LISC
Maurice Jones joined LISC as President & CEO in September 2016. Immediately prior to joining LISC, he served as the Secretary of Commerce for the Commonwealth of Virginia. He previously served as Deputy Secretary for the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD); prior to that he was Commissioner of Virginia’s Department of Social Services and Deputy Chief of Staff to former Virginia Gov. Mark Warner. Maurice also worked during the Clinton Administration at the Treasury Department, where he helped manage a then-new initiative called the CDFI Fund. He holds a BA from Hampden-Sydney College, a Master’s Degree in International Relations from Oxford University, and a JD from the University of Virginia School of Law.

Kai Wright, Features Editor of The Nation and host of WNYC’s podcast “There Goes The Neighborhood”  
Kai Wright is Features Editor of The Nation. His reporting and writing has focused on racial justice, economic inequity, healthcare, and sexuality. He is the host of “There Goes the Neighborhood," a WNYC podcast that covers the gentrification of Brooklyn, from the developers to the mayor’s plan for affordable housing, to the integral role that race plays in the process. He is the former editorial director of Colorlines, a longtime fellow of the Investigative Fund at the Nation Institute, and a frequent commentator on NPR, MSNBC, and other national broadcast outlets. 

Nani Coloretti, Deputy Secretary of the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD)
Nani Coloretti serves as the Deputy Secretary of the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD). As the second most senior official at HUD, Ms. Coloretti manages the Department's day-to-day operations, including a $45 billion annual budget and approximately 7,500 employees. Previously, she served as the Assistant Secretary for Management at the U.S. Department of the Treasury and the Budget Director for San Francisco Mayor Gavin Newsom. She holds a B.A. in Economics and Communications from the University of Pennsylvania and a Master's in Public Policy from University of California, Berkeley. She grew up in Honolulu and lives in Bethesda, MD with her husband and son.
