Extreme weather disasters present immediate challenges to the survival of small businesses and the outlook for long-term recovery and growth. With the generous support from our partners, LISC’s Small Business Resiliency programming is activating in local communities to ensure businesses can innovate, expand, and thrive in the face of increasing climate disasters.
What We’re Offering
Our Small Business Resiliency work currently operates through 25 Business Development Organizations (BDOs) working in collaboration with LISC’s Chicago, Detroit, and Rural offices. BDO staff with expertise in business continuity management provide small business owners with training and guidance on the following:
- Understanding how one-time shocks and long-term interference from natural disasters change impacts small businesses
- Assessing barriers to preparedness and developing strategies to tackle them
- Identifying climate-related business opportunities, including evolving technologies, shifting stakeholders, and funding trends.
Who is eligible for support?
LISC’s Small Business Resiliency programming is currently open to small businesses operating in disaster-prone areas in select areas near and around Chicago, Detroit, New Orleans, and Puerto Rico.
Learn More
LISC’s BDO partners will begin to offer training and one-on-one support to small businesses in August 2022. Interested small businesses may register to be notified when services in their area are available.
