About the project
The Vietnamese American Initiative for Development (VietAID) was founded in 1994 in an effort to foster stronger communities, alleviate poverty, and increase civic participation of minority communities. Their mission of comprehensive economic and social community development is informed by a multifaceted approach which incorporates affordable housing, commercial development, technical assistance and training, youth development programs, and community outreach services.
VietAID has roots in Fields Corner, the predominantly-Vietnamese community of Dorchester. Their headquarters is located in Dorchester, MA, and they serve the greater Boston area.
LISC provided $145,866 in permanent funding to assist in the redevelopment of a 3-story office building in the Fields Corner neighborhood of Dorchester, MA. The completed project will host twelve affordable, single-room occupancy units for low-income individuals, in addition to affordable office space for Vietnamese-American business owners.
