Armory Arts and Music Center
About the project
The Armory Arts and Music Center (AAMC) was formed in 2003, by seven community members, to take over stewardship of the Armory and to protect the Armory from demolition. AAMC’s vision is to restore the Armory building to a place that the entire community can enjoy and frequent. AAMC’s main activities revolve around operating the Annex Arts Center, which is home to several local artisans; advancing the multi-phase development plan for the Armory property; and the Music Resource Center (MRC), a free after-school program for area middle and high school students who wish to explore their passion for music.
The Armory Arts and Music Center is located in Duluth, MN.
LISC provided $270,000 in predevelopment financing to AAMC. AAMC will use the proceeds to rehabilitate the first floor of the historic Duluth Armory building for use as commercial space with an emphasis on local/craft/artisan food manufacturing. This is considered Phase 2 of the multiphase development effort at the Armory. This project will add to the commercial space and creative placemaking in the Duluth Hillside community.
