About the project
Be Neighbors Affordable Housing for Veterans Inc. was founded in 2010 by Harvey Hall, himself a veteran. The organization incorporated in 2020 to support Be Neighbors Veterans Community, its first development project. The mission of the organization is to provide permanent supportive housing for American veterans.

LISC provided $267,350 of predevelopment financing to support Be Neighbors Veterans Community, a permanent supportive housing community for veterans in Springfield, IL. The project will include 18 one-bedroom detached homes for veterans at or below 30% AMI. Additionally, the site wil have a state-of-the-art Learning, Technology & Resource Center that will offer onsite health, wellness and employment services for residents. All homes will feature energy star appliances and come fully furnished.
