About the project
The Comité de Bien Estar (“Comité"), founded in 1981, is a successful Arizona non-profit that strives to enhance the economic and social well-being of the community through cooperative land development, housing, lending, and social services and works to empower moderate to low-income families in the community, by helping them overcome the many barriers they face, including very low wages, little access to conventional financing and limited political representation. The organization provides construction, property management, financing, supportive services to its members.
Comite is located in San Luis, AZ and serves southern Arizona.
LISC provided $3.50 million to support Bienestar Estates 12, a 183-lot planned for-sale housing development. Funds will cover the acquisition, horizontal site improvements and soft costs. 153 homes will be affordable to families making no more than 120% of AMI, including 61 houses reserved for households at 80% AMI or less.
