Ceres NMTC Project
About the project
Founded in 2007 as a one-day-a-week volunteer project based at the Sebastopol Community Church, Ceres Community Project supports individuals dealing with serious illness by providing free or low-cost, healthy meals delivered to their homes. They also empower young people as volunteer gardeners and chefs, giving them direct and hands on experience in the difference that fresh, healthy foods and community make.
Ceres Community Project is located in Sebastopol, CA. Ceres delivers meals to all of Sonoma and Marin counties and is planning to expand to Solano, Napa and Lake counties, CA.
LISC provided a $7 million loan to support the construction of a new culinary facility to produce medically tailored meals in Santa Rosa, CA. Ceres Community Project serves a very low-income and majority POC client base and, through partnerships with healthcare providers, provides free meals to MediCal participants. Ceres will distribute over 225,000 meals in 2024, and this new facility will allow Ceres to grow production up to 800,000 meals per year, providing healthy food to more individuals living with serious illnesses. The building will be all electric with solar panels and battery storage. LISC's loan will bridge a capital campaign and the project will also be supported by NMTC equity.
