Connecticut Harm Reduction Alliance
About the project
The Connecticut Harm Reduction Alliance (CTHRA) is a community-based organization housing both the Greater Hartford Harm Reduction Coalition (GHHRC) and Sex Workers and Allies Network (SWAN) programs, which merged October 2021. The GHHRC was originally formed in March of 2014 by a group of individuals dedicated to serving the most vulnerable people in Connecticut’s communities. Its mission is to promote the dignity and wellbeing of individuals and communities impacted by drug use, homelessness, and sex work.
CTHRA is headquartered in Hartford, CT.
LISC provided $311,600 in financing to CTHRA to acquire its location in Hartford's Frog Hollow neighhorhood. CTHRA currently leases the building and it serves as the central hub for the organization's activities, including its main office and data management operations, Naloxone/Narcan training and distribution, overdose prevention programming, resource center housing programs for the nearby shelter and distribution for its Rover program (through which it offers mobile services throughout the organization's footprint). CTHRA also subleases space to smaller tenants offering healthcare and homelessness support.
