The Federal Policy Landscape for Community Development

While the country is on a path back to recovery from the health and economic impacts of COVID-19, many questions remain about how to tackle the twin issues of poverty and inequality – issues that have persisted for decades, but have been magnified in the wake of the pandemic and a heightened national call for social justice.

On July 13, 2021, LISC hosted a discussion on current federal programs and new proposed initiatives that are critical to addressing the health and economic well-being of low income families and communities.

    Part One

A discussion of the White House’s economic policy agenda, including the proposed American Jobs Plan and American Families Plan, and what is ahead for affordable housing, small businesses and infrastructure.

    Part Two

A virtual interactive panel featuring on the ground practitioners discussing what fuels community development policies and practices, including the role of the federal government, the importance of public-private partnerships, and what resources local organizations need in order to better serve their communities.
