HELP Philadelphia I and II
About the project
HELP Development Corporation (HDC) was founded in 1996 by HELP USA. HELP USA was formed in 1986 and initially focused on transitional housing. Over the years, HELP USA has evolved into a multi-service organization, with homeless prevention, job training and employment, support for survivors of domestic violence and veterans' programs established to address the many facets of homelessness. HDC is the developer affiliate of HELP USA.
HELP USA is based in New York, NY and operates in numerous states including Pennsylvania.
LISC provided a $500,000 predevelopment loan to support expenses associated with rehabbing and preserving two aging affordable housing developments from the late 1990s. The project will preserve 90 units of deeply affordable housing in the Mill Creek neighborhood of Philadelphia. The project includes 40 three bedroom units and 50 one bedroom units as well as supportive services, a community room and shared spaces.
