Highland Park Children's Center Renovation
About the project
Founded in 1974, Woonsocket Head Start Child Development Association Inc. (WHSCDA) is a comprehensive child development program that serves low income families and their children in the Woonsocket neighborhood. WHSCDA provides education, health, nutrition, and family services, and aims to improve lifelong outcomes for the children they serve by facilitating high-quality early childhood education programming and building enduring partnerships with the community.
WHSCDA is headquartered in Woonsocket, Rhode Island.
LISC provided WHSCDA with $300,000 in mini-permanent financing to offset the costs for renovations and upgrades to the Highland Park Children's Center, located in Providence County, RI. A 27 year-old building, Highland Park has not received significant renovations since its initial construction and all classrooms, bathrooms, offices, and kitchen spaces are slated for improvements. The renovation of this facility will have a significant impact on the 65 children who are currently enrolled (nearly 40% of whom are considered very high need), and provide affordable, high-quality childcare and education services to residents of the Woonsocket community.
